QAUSUITTUQ

Qausuittuq is a meditative experimental short film that drifts between memory, landscape, and the unseen emotional weight carried in isolated places. Shot, directed by Min Bae, the film unfolds through stark northern imagery and an evocative, minimalist soundscape created in collaboration with composer Brent Lee. Rather than telling a conventional story, the film immerses the viewer in a sensory experience quiet, lingering, and hypnotic where time feels suspended and the boundary between inner and outer worlds begins to blur.

Crafted during the pandemic years and later screened at festivals including Montreal, Oregon, Venice, and Oxford Independent, Qausuittuq invites the audience to contemplate solitude and resilience. The film becomes less a portrait of a place than a movement through states of mind, capturing the fragile, haunting stillness suggested by its title: a place where there is no dawn.
